Who we are
NewProperties operates newproperties.co.za, a South African catalogue of developer-direct new property stock. We are the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) for personal information collected through this website.
What we collect
Account details (name, email, password hash), enquiries (name, email, phone, message, listing), newsletter preferences, developer company information you submit (registration, NHBRC, contact details, logos), and technical logs needed to run the site (IP address, browser, security checks). We do not list resale stock and we do not buy marketing lists.
Why we process it (POPIA)
We process personal information to provide the catalogue, answer enquiries, verify developers, send alerts you subscribe to, secure accounts, and meet legal duties. The lawful bases are: contract (your account or enquiry), legitimate interest (running a property catalogue and preventing abuse), consent (newsletters and optional cookies), and legal obligation where the law requires a record.
Who we share it with
Enquiries go to the NewProperties desk. A verified, independently confirmed developer is copied on buyer enquiries about their stock. Email may be sent through our mailbox provider (Domains.co.za or another SMTP host we configure) or FormSubmit while we are in beta. We do not sell personal information.
Transfers
The live site is intended to run on a Johannesburg server. Some processors (for example an email relay or fonts) may be outside South Africa. We only use them to operate the service.
How long we keep it
Accounts and developer profiles while the relationship lasts and a reasonable period after. Enquiries and mail logs for the beta audit trail. Newsletter records until you unsubscribe. Captcha challenges expire within minutes. Password-reset tokens expire within an hour.
Your rights
You may ask us for access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal information, object to processing, or withdraw newsletter consent. Use the unsubscribe link in any alert, or email the desk. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Security
Passwords are stored hashed. Session cookies are HttpOnly. We use a short number-check plus an “I am not a robot” confirmation on public forms. No system is perfectly secure; report issues to the desk inbox.
Children
This catalogue is for adults buying or selling new property. Do not create an account for anyone under 18.
